Yala national park

Yala National Park is really big, covering an area of 979 square kilometers. It’s the biggest park in Sri Lanka and the second-biggest in the Indian Ocean area. It’s about 300 kilometers away from Colombo, the capital city. There are five entrances to the park, but only Ruhuna National Park (Block 1) and Yala Estonia are open for visitors. This park is famous for its many different animals like elephants, leopards, and birds that live in or near water. It’s made up of six national parks and three wildlife sanctuaries nearby.

Lunugamwehere National Park is the biggest one close to Yala. It’s known for its dry, semi-dry weather and is home to over 70 kinds of birds, including 215 birds that fly there during certain times of the year. Yala has an amazing 44 different kinds of mammals, and it’s one of the places in the world where you can see a lot of leopards. It’s the most popular park in Sri Lanka, and in 2002, it had over 156,867 visitors from other countries, with 30% of them coming from Europe. Visiting Yala National Park is an incredible experience where you can see lots of different animals and enjoy the beauty of nature.
